"A SAREE..."

One fine rainy day , she went to the market to buy vegetables ,with umbrella in a hand and the other hand did hold a beautiful bag to carry some vegetables. She wished that she had another hand to close the door and one more to carry  her SAREE perfectly. She made abortive efforts to carry herself perfectly in a SAREE.
She is an INDIAN and undoubtedly knows the importance of this 5.5 metres cloth which she often wraps on to protect her dignity,self-esteem and prestige.
May it be rugged and plain, may it be the branded silkens. Nevertheless, she wears it with the same grace.
When she was a child , she caught hold of her mother's SAREE to cover up a few steps and learned to walk.
When she slept and her mother's SAREE covered her face , She felt very secure as she had never felt before , least bothered about what happened around her.
Then she carved out her own career and left behind the healing touch of her mother's SAREE !

Ah!!but she now wore a saree and was ready to project herself as a full-pledged lady in this world. She has learned the art of defending herself against every odd of her life ruthlessly, but her SAREE has still maintained a grace and softness in her. And I find a mother in her who is ready to sacrifice her life without a dint of doubt.

She is now ready to make her children -"THE CHIP OF THE OLD BLOCK"

Thank you!

  3. Great Thoughts Soumya. A woman is a mother, sister, wife and pamper all the relations by sacrificing her happiness. A Saree is like a knot for her to keep the family united. I just want to add few things to this article which is not much relevant but related to your ideas and thoughts.

India's culture is marked by a high degree of syncretism and cultural pluralism. It has managed to preserve established traditions while absorbing new customs, traditions, and ideas from invaders and immigrants and spreading its cultural influence to other parts of Asia.

A woman is an architect of society. She establishes the institution of family life, builds the home, brings up the children and makes them good citizens. Her strength in totality contributes in the making of an ideal family, ideal society and an ideal state.

MEN should realize the power of women, and women should also realize their power too, what they can do for them, for their family, for their nation. They are the building blocks of nation building, In the words of Martin Luthar KIng, "A mother's place is inside her home, But she should also make certain, she gets outside that home enough to help worth while crusades and actively mould the country her children will live in .She therefore holds a key position and her role in shaping the fate of the nation must be recognized and respected.

If we see the other face of society, practice of mass killing of girls is becoming common day by day in the rural areas. The Female feticide and infanticide is not the only issues with a girl child in India. At every stage of life she is discriminated and neglected for basic nutrition, education and living standard. When she was in the womb, she was forced to miss the moment when she was supposed to enter the world. At the time of birth her relatives pulled her back and wrung her neck. After killing her she was thrown into a trash can.

We all are proud citizens of India. The need of hour is to realize our responsibilities and give a halt to this evil crime. What can we do to curb the brutal and undesirable practice of mass killing girls? A determined drive can initiate a spark to light the lamp and show the world that we all are part of the great Mother India.
